2010 - Elizabeth II - WWII Remembrance Quarter

In 2004, a quarter was issued in honour of Remembrance Day, featuring a corn poppy on the reverse, a traditional symbol in Canada of that day. This resulted in a bizarre international incident, in which American military contractors unfamiliar with the coin's design believed these coins were outfitted with nanotechnology designed for espionage.

The 2010 coin features a soldier with a bowed head and hands on a rifle in front of a maple leaf. Two coloured poppies are on each side of the soldier.

In 2004, the Royal Canadian Mint produced our very first 25-cent poppy coin. With a red poppy stamped on the reverse. The coin was later named Most Innovative Circulation Coin at the Mint Directors' Conference (MDC) in Paris, France.

In 2008, we marked the 90th anniversary of the Armistice in association with the Royal Canadian Legion. In addition to issuing yet another iconic red poppy 25-cent coin. The 2008 25-cent coin depicting the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier at the National War Memorial in Ottawa. Three soldiers representing Canada's land, sea and air forces stand in tribute.

In 2010, the Royal Canadian Mint issued a new 25-cent poppy circulation coin.
